Model 4031 is an ultra-compact, analog HD digital video recorder (DVR) which is optimized for embedding in OEM systems. It captures audio and HD/SD analog video (AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI, NTSC, PAL) at resolutions up to 1080p30 and records them on microSD storage media in transport stream or MP4 format. On command, it will also capture JPEG snapshots on-the-fly without interrupting video recording.
An SD video output allows live video, recorded video or JPEG snapshots to be displayed on an external monitor along with DVR-generated menus. Date and time are maintained by a real-time clock with battery backup. To implement a complete embedded DVR simply connect power, plug in a microSD card and, if needed, attach a display monitor and your own custom keypad.
Video is encoded using efficient H.264 compression. Audio from the microphone or stereo line-level inputs is digitized and compressed using AAC encoding. The compressed A/V streams are multiplexed and recorded as MPEG-TS or MP4 files, with file names automatically generated using the real-time clock. Bit rates can be tailored to match application requirements and storage capacity.
The user interface consists of an optional user-supplied keypad working in conjunction with the board's on-screen menus. Each keypad connector pin can be routed to any keypad switch and configured to match the control scheme of your custom keypad.
If preferred, the DVR can operate without a keypad. When so configured, the DVR will automatically start recording within 20 seconds after power up. The MPEG-TS format ensures that recordings will be preserved when power is turned off.
The text overlay engine can position the current date, time and other information anywhere in the video frame. The date and time overlays are automatically updated every video frame.
A USB port allows an attached PC to configure DVR operation, retrieve recordings from the microSD card, and update firmware.
