SENSORAY Model 3364 USB 3.0 HD video + audio capture device

Features

  • HD/SD video capture from DVI or SDI
  • Captures uncompressed 1080p60 with very low latency
  • Video compression: H.264 HP@L3, MJPEG
  • AAC Audio compression
  • Unicode text and graphic overlay (monochrome)
  • UVC compliant
  • USB 3.0, bus powered

Model 3364 is a USB 3.0 HD video capture device available in SDI and DVI versions. It captures uncompressed HD/SD video and will overlay and compress resolutions up to 1080p30. It can simultaneously send both compressed and uncompressed video to the host computer. With appropriate adapters (not included), DVI versions can also capture component, VGA and composite signals. Depending on the version, it has either two DVI or two SDI connectors (one input, one output).

Audio can be captured from a microphone or line source using a 3364TA accessory board or from the SDI input (on SDI versions). Audio may be sent uncompressed, or it may be compressed and multiplexed into a transport stream along with compressed video, or both simultaneously.

Software

The unit is a fully compliant UVC (USB Video Class) device that works with any standard UVC driver, thus eliminating the need for a custom driver and allowing seamless control through video APIs such as DirectShow and Video4Linux.

Free Linux and Windows software development kits (SDKs) are available for model 3364. The SDKs include our versatile high-level API with popular functions such as snapshot capture, recording to files (in AVI, MP4 and TS formats), overlay management and, to facilitate styled text, functions for drawing Unicode text on video overlays. Also included is a comprehensive demo program that shows off the device's full capabilities, complete with source code that serves as an ideal starting point for custom applications.

Video processors

Dual video processors and compression engines allow the input video to be split and simultaneously processed as two independent streams. Video processing functions include image resizing and mirroring, frame rate decimation, and overlaying qualified regions with graphics and text. This capability is essential in many applications, such as when a high quality stream is required for recording while another stream of lower resolution, bit rate, or both, is needed for mobile device viewing or transmission over bandwidth-limited networks.

Stream formats

Each compression engine independently performs MJPEG or efficient, high-profile H.264 video compression. In the latter case, audio is compressed to AAC-LC and the stream multiplexer outputs MPEG transport stream (MPEG-TS) format. The multiplexer employs high precision hardware timestamps to ensure perfect audio-video sync on players.

Output signals

For video resolutions up to 1080p30, the unit can pass through unaltered or modified (e.g., downsized) video while adding overlays. The output overlay block supports high-speed updates of Unicode text and graphics, which may be uploaded in real time via USB. Audio pass-through is available with a 3364TA board and on the SDI output (on SDI versions).

Packaging options

Model 3364 is available as a bare board (3364-SDI and 3364-DVI) or as an enclosed unit (3364-SDIS and 3364-DVIS). Enclosed units combine a 3364 bare board and a 3364TA audio accessory board in a robust metal enclosure, thus providing built-in analog audio interfaces. Bare board versions do not include a 3364TA audio accessory board, so a 3364TA must be purchased separately if you require analog audio interfaces.
